Frac Water Treatment – FTT has worked with partners to investigate Ferrate chemistry and build a mobile Ferrator system to treat flow-back waters produced in the hydraulic fracturing of shale gas formations. This market is a significant growth opportunity for FTT. The U.S. Energy Information Agency, (EIA) projects shale gas production to grow 113% between 2011 and 2040. Wastewaters have been tested from the Marcellus, Bakkan, Eagleford, and Barnett shale plays achieving competitive treatment costs as low as $1.25 per barrel; depending upon shale location, contaminant loadings, and treatment requirements. Ferrate treatment is a key element currently being designed into a total solution for the Oil and Gas and Frac markets to address: drill cuttings (sludges), flow-back water, produced waters, and desalination. FTT is currently in discussions with several potential commercialization partners to exploit this market opportunity.
