Ferrate Treats Mine Waste
Mining – Newmont Mining Corporation is one of the world’s largest gold producers with over 40,000 employees and is listed in the S&P 500 Index and the Fortune 500. Founded in 1921, Newmont has significant assets and operations in the United States, Australia, Peru, Indonesia, Ghana, New Zealand, and Mexico. Newmont’s top four chemical engineers visited FTT’s Orlando laboratory facilities and witnessed the Lake Apopka cleanup project on March 22, 2013. Water samples were then sent to FTT and successful bench tests on reverse osmosis permeate removed ammonia, color and metals. In June 2014, Newmont gave FTT a contract to build, containerize, and ship a demonstration scale Ferrator to their Ahafo gold mine in Ghana. The unit has arrived in Ghana and an onsite confirmation test is scheduled for November, subject to the Ebola outbreak. This demonstration could result in a large sale to this gold mine.
